Low on Virtual Memory

well as the title says my computer keeps coming up with a message saying it's low on virtual memory and i don't have any idea what it is or what to do about it.

first give a little information about your computer, how much ram do you have and what is your harddrives size and how much free space? Also what operating system do you have.
