Is my computer going to blow up?

I'm still using the second computer my mother bought in 2000, when I was just 11. Anyways, while I was reformatting the other day, the computer randomly shut off a few times during set up. I just put a huge room fan on the side of it (it's missing on side...) and it got through. I've been using it fine for 3 days now and two times in the past hour, the computer has completely locked up. After doing some searching, I think it's definitely the PSU dying on me. I don't plan on replacing it so I just want to ask.

Will the PSU blow up? Or will it randomly combust from being used? I know that may sound ridiculous, but... The second time it happened, it went to a blue screen... but not one I'm used to...

Thank you for the help.

Re: Is my computer going to blow up?

i have seen supplies smoke.
usually they have other causalities.
tell me, did you reinstall the chipset drivers from the motherboard disk when you reinstalled?
any yellow alerts in the device manager?

I don't even have a motherboard disk, just the Windows XP Pro disk? No yellow alert, unless you count the Windows update ballon.

Re: Is my computer going to blow up?

you need to download the chipset drivers from the motherboard's manufacturer's home page.
