Problems with speedfan

If this is in the wrong forum, I am sorry and please move it.

Okay, I just installed a Athlon64 3800+ to replace a 3400+. I saw on many of the threads to run speedfan to check temps and what not. Every time I try to run it, it freezes my system. I get to the point where it runs to "Smart enabled for Drive 0" and that's where it hangs. Have uninstalled, re-installed and nothing. I'm not sure what info you need so I'll try to list as much as I can think of.

GA K8N-XP-SLi
Athlon64 3800+
2GB RAM (2x512 Corsair, 2x512 Ultra)
Windows XP Pro SP2
CoolerMaster 650 Real Power Pro
BFG 7600GT
SB Audigy 2 ZS

I am running AVG 7.5 and use the nVidia and Windows firewall. Are there things I should disable? Thanks

Re: Problems with speedfan

you should not run 2 firewalls simultaneously
uninstall speedfan and try sensor view

Re: Problems with speedfan

I wiped my drive and re-installed XP. I loaded the drivers, AVG anti-virus and Gigabyte's Easy Tune. No other programs. Sensor View freezes too. Everest freezes and Speed Fan freezes. I can't get any of them to work. I install them and the first time I run any of them the computer locks up. Restatrt and they still lock up. Any ideas? I have also tried without the Easy Tune and they still freeze.
