Re: Would this ram work with my motherboard?

Also, just another quick question...If i decided to duel channel ram in my other comp...What would the speed difference be like compared to 2GB DDR 400mhz ram, to duel channeled 2GB DDR2 533mhz ram? Would it be noticeably faster?

Re: Would this ram work with my motherboard?

I build systems, some advice.

The only authority on what memory & CPU to use on with any motherboard is the manufacturer of the motherboard, NOT a resale site.

If you already have a up-and-running system, and you are looking for a memory upgrade, try using 4AllMemory's [Check My System] applet.

BY THE WAY, I DO NOT WORK FOR, NOR AM I AFFILIATED WITH 4AllMemory. My corporate IT just pointed me to them as a way of accurately choosing memory upgrades.

This will download a very small, and temporary, applet that will check your motherboard and return to a WEB page showing what you already have (including empty memory slots) and an memory upgrades that are an exact match to your motherboard. That exact match is what is critical. I suggest you print the page for future reference.

You don't have to buy from them. My employer doesn't, they have a special contracts with resellers for hardware.

Re: Would this ram work with my motherboard?

JEDEC= Joint Electron Device Engineering Cousel. They set the industry standards for RAM and other semiconductor related devices.

It is best to use memory from the Qualified list in the motherboard manual. It's a list of RAM that has been tested on your board and is known to work properly. It can be downloaded from the Gigabyte site.

IMO, there would not be big difference in performance moving from DDR400 to DDR2533,atleast not in real world apps. You would see an improvement in benchmarks however.
