problem adding extra ram

Hi,

My mobo has 4 ram slots and ive always used 2 512mb sticks with no problem. I recentley aquired another 512mb of the same type and tried to install it but the pc hust beeps and wont start. I was told this is because i have to use BOTH the remaining slots so i bought another 512mb stick and installed both. Unfortunately the same thing happens.

If i put the 2 new sticks in slots 1&2 on there own they work fine suggesting the ram isnt faulty.

Do i need to set something to use all four sticks?

BTW, all the sticks are double sided except the 1 i just bought (dont know if thats relevant)

Thanx

Re: problem adding extra ram

Hi cdpaul,
Is this the Platinum version? I am thinking yes. Anyhow MSI is very funny with memory for thier boards. Here is a spec sheet for the memory
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p..._neo2_platinum
It appears you can not use both Double sided and single sided memory at the same time.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Bill
