Problem with new PSU
This is the first time I've posted her, so thanks in advance for any help.
My computer is getting a bit old so I'm progressively replacing a few bits to give it another year or twos life. I've just bought a new PSU in anticipation of a new video card. Current system: Gigabyte i915P mobo IntelPentium 4 550, 3.4GHz 2gb memory 250GB Western Digital HDD Not sure what other info would be useful. I currently have a 400W PSU, but was recommended a 500W before getting a new video card. I've bought a Silverstone ST50F. When I install it the fans in the PSU, mobo and vid card all spin up, but nothing else (no HDD light, no power to DVD drive, no beeps). No fiddling round seems to get any changes. I've put the old PSU back in, and everything goes fine. Without any other ideas, I'm guessing maybe the new PSU is no good, but I don't want to return it and find it's something simple I've missed. |
