Memory Issue

MB is K8T89oM2-V
DDR Menory PC3200 400 MHZ 184 Pin
BIOS Phoenix 6.00 PG 01/11/2006
My board allows for 2G of memory, I have one stick in the first slot and my computer runs find.
When I put a stick of the same memory in the other slot and turn on the PC, I get one long beep over and over.
I put the second stick in the first slot and works find.
When I boot help with on stick, I see DDR 400 Single Channel, 64 bit. on the screen.
I thought this would say Dual Channel because that is what my memory is.

I have palyed with this for days and cannot get the number two module to work.

Can someone help?

Re: Memory Issue

Well, it won't read dual channel until you are in dual channel. Both sticks are required for dual channel. With one stick only working it is single channel. You sure about that motherboard number? It appears you have an MSI board but I can't find anything on there website for it. How many dimms do you have?

Re: Memory Issue

It is MSI-7139. Got it from TigerDirect and I have two dimms just alike. When I put the other in I get one beep and it won't post.

Re: Memory Issue

Yes it has two dimm sockets only and the MB is MSI K8T89OM2-V , series MS-7139.
Could it be my power supply is not putting out enough? I have 500w.
