HP Pavilion 753n memory upgrade

Went to local store with current RAM (512MB) for comparison to buy additional 512MB RAM for upgrade. Got home and installed it, then found out that i was sold the wrong speed. The motherboard holds RAM speed for PC2100/PC1600 and this RAM is PC3200. Now after the install I am receiving a long beep followed by a pause then followed by a long beep. This continues until i shut the machine off. I cannot get a boot. I have taken the new ram out and tried that, but the beeps still occur. I also have taken everything off the mobo except the power supply and i am still getting the beeps. I have tried to reset the mobo by removing and reseeding the battery. I am desperate here as this was to be an easy replacement and has now turned into a day of work. Any suggestions on what to do to get this thing to stop beeping and start booting?? How can i reset the mobo to its original state? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Re: HP Pavilion 753n memory upgrade

Would anyone on this forum possibly know how to fix this? All I did was remove the ram and then directly putting it back (the same ram) and now the computer will not start properly. Now it just shows a black screen and making a long beeping noise constantly (with 1-2 second pauses). I have no idea how and why this is happening so what are some things I could do to try fixing it?
