Just built my pc, having some problems
Here are my specs..
e4500 + stock heatsink MSI neo combo 8800GT XFX 160GB WD SATA Generic DVD IDE drive(set to master) vw450w corsair psu 2x1gb g.skill 31c cpu idle 34c case idle(hot room, no side on it) It posts fine, reads my optical drive + tells me my BIOS version, then the next screen just has a line at the top left. I have tried running MEMtest on a cd but it does the same thing, along with XP. |

Re: Just built my pc, having some problems
Just reseated my graphics card, and unplugged both my HD and DVDrive, and it comes up with "please insert proper boot media".
something different :D. Does this mean my hard drive is dead? |

Re: Just built my pc, having some problems
It is a very high quality PSU, and i DO trust it with my system.
I don't know which should go first, people have told me to set HD second priority, and first. Which should it be? |

Re: Just built my pc, having some problems
I think what he means by not trusting the PSU is that 450 watts seems a bit low to have with that video card as well as the rest of your system, I'm not sure he was referencing the brand.
Other thing...the cd you are using...is it XP or vista? If it was downloaded it may not have been burned right? Test the CD on another working computer first. Another idea is that oddly enough some motherboards (though I havn't looked yours up yet) for some reason don't accept speeds of 3.0 gb/s for the Sata HD's, so you end up having to put a jumper on the hd to cap the speed at 1.5 gb/s <--though I doubt that is your problem. I say that only because I had a problem with my computer not recognizing my hd and that was why. And yeah, boot priority being CD, then HDD. Is the HD recognized in the bios?
