Wacky Computer Behavior
My computer hadn't been working for a while, and I got the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) several times.
Just tonight a friend and I opened the case up and checked all the hardware, and nothing appeared to be wrong. We booted it up, and first noticed a noise from the power supply. Somewhat like the electricity flowing. After we booted it up, the taskpane froze up on the bottom. We were unable to click Start or any of the icons. Disgruntled, we restarted it again, and were going to reformat the harddrive. Throwing in a disk (Ubuntu), we went to boot it up again. This time, the screen loaded with tons of green scanlines, and sat there. Then, there was a few more lines. I'm thinking it may be caused by Bad RAM. Before I buy any sticks, i'd like someone elses thoughts. Thanks. |

Re: Wacky Computer Behavior
Speedster has given you good advice. A bad power supply can damage other parts of your computer.

Re: Wacky Computer Behavior
Sorry, I said that wrong.
It was coming from the supply port on the computer. Today we've ran it, and it's not making the noise. We found various Trojans and backdoors that we think may have caused to problem. We deleted them, and doing our best to clear them off. |
