Board: Intel D845DVSR. need compatable ram

i am looking to add a 1gb stick which i was going to purchace today on ebay. luckily before i did i read the sellers disclaimer about high density memory.

i know i need a ddr stick that is pc3200 but i do not know anything beyond that. can anyone help?

a little more info to add. i have tried using some memory scanner tools and done some limited research which provided alot of results that i do not understand very well. acording to what i have found out i need ram that is 333mhz or lower and my board supports pc3200 or previous, which it has a 512mb stick of 3200 in it right now.

then when i went looking for ram i could not find ANY 1gb sticks of pc3200 ram that were 333mhz, only 400mhz. i was hoping to get pc3200 for best results but does this mean that i have to settle for pc2700 if i want a 1gb stick?

plus i still need to figure out if i need high or low density ram?

i read it. i can make sense of some of it as well as the results i got from a few of the memory scanners.

the info i am in need of though is the info i haven't found a definate answer to which is can i use high density ram and can i use 400mhz ram which would enable me to get a 1gb pc3200 stick?

The 400mhz ram you mention should work fine. It's comapitable with most needing DDR. I wouldn't suggest the ebay idea, but do think you should try to buy locally

what board and cpu do you have?

board is Intel D845DVSR
cpu is 2.4ghz intel celeron

Are you sure it's not a D845GVSR? None the less if the board only support PC2700, PC3200 will still work since it's backward compatible, only run at PC2700 speed.
