New PSU, monitor is blank

Hello,

I recently purchased <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182069>This</a>
Rosewill 750W PSU. I've noticed a couple of things when trying to install it. First off, my mobo is a 20 pin with an extra 4 pin slot. When I plug in the New PSU's extra 4 pins to the motherboard the pc will not boot at all. However when I leave it out the computer seems to boot. My old power supply uses both the 20 pin and 4 pin just fine. What is causing the problem? is it a big deal if I leave the extra 4 pins out?

my other problem is that my monitor is giving me a blank screen when using the new psu. The fans blow and the LEDs come on so I know its booting but the monitor isn't getting a signal. I've tried two different monitors with the thing, I tried both DVI, and VGA ports, I've tried taking out my graphics card and plugging into the onboard graphics, but nothing works! When I use my old psu the monitor shows up just fine. So I'm 100 percent positive that the problem is the new psu's fault. My question is how do I solve this problem?

I suspect it is partly the fault of my old motherboard. It almost seems like the psu is overpowering it. The cpu fan goes insane whenever I try to boot with it. I'm replacing the motherboard and cpu soon so I want to make sure i know if I should consider RMA'ing the psu or if it is just my motherboard's fault and I should wait until I get the new one.\

If anyone could answer my questions I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

I hate to start a thread reply off with negativity, but Rosewill has a long history of making very poor quality PSUs. For the money you have been better off with an Antec Trio, Coolermaster Real Power Pro, Thermaltake Toughpower, Corsair, OCZ GameXtreme. Just my two cents.

That said, could you post your full system specs as outlined here? Be sure to include info on your old power supply.

Does you motherboard have a 20 pin connector or a 24 pin? If it's only a 20pin and a seperate 4pin (this would be the 4 pin molex connector that powers the CPU). Then the 4 pin connector has it's own plug coming from the power supply. You cannot use the 4pin connection that is sheathed with the 20 pin connector. You must use the 4pin 12v atx connector from the power supply.

Please post the info I requested along with any questions or concerns.
