Case/PSU Compatibility

I am preparing to build a new computer which includes the following two devices:

LIAN LI PC-V1000 case - http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811112118

Corsair CMPSU-620HX power supply - http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817139002

My question is this. The power supply sits in the bottom of the case and has it's fan facing downward. Is there a problem with this? I've avoided some other cases because it appears the PSU's fan would have no place to exhaust.

TIA,
Bud

Re: Case/PSU Compatibility

Well, the psu fan would be blocked by the case floor, unless you installed the psu upside down. Why not just go for a PC Power & Cooling 610W or 750W and avoid all that trouble with psu fan orientation. (both can be found on newegg)

Re: Case/PSU Compatibility

well from looking at the case turning the PSU upside down is not an option as your fan would be further impeded by the plate above. There is an air gap under the PSU but I can not see fully as to how much restriction it has in relation to drawing air form the case to exhaust out the back.

LIAN LI have a good rep in regards to construction and quality but it does bother me a tad the way they have setup the PSU

Re: Case/PSU Compatibility

no, but looking back over a different view I did see that there are about 15 holes cut into the plate at the back which should allow ample air to be drawn in and sucked into the air gap that is provided under the psu

I hadn't paid attention to those holes in the back plate and I'd forgotten that there are holes in the bottom of the case as well. I think I haven't a problem after all.

In addition, I can't say for sure if the fan actually exhausts or is an intake. Either way, it now appears it should work OK.

I chose the Corsair not only for it's sterling reputation but because it's shorter than the other fine PSU's and also has some modular cabling.

I think that most of the other PSU's that are good are longer than the Corsair and would require the removal of something to get it to fit in that case.

I might have found other cases that I'd like but they would be too tall to fit into the opening in my desk and I don't want the case sitting on the floor.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
