ram upgrade

ok,spec`s as follows:-

asus striker extreme mobo
2x hdd/wd 160gd (not raid)
2 x1gb 6400 corsair twin kit (cl5,dual)
8800gts
e6700
vista-32 ultimate

i want to add 1 more 1gb of ram (or even 2gb),i know its max is at 3.3gb or so but my question is, if i add 2gb corsair kit again will this affect the performance as it is,such as the dual channel already in use or will i be better off just adding a 1gb of ram.also how do i find out if my ram sli ready?

thanks for any replys.

Re: ram upgrade

Dual channel must be in sets of 2. So, if you have 3 sticks of ram it will not run in dual channel. Also, if you are running different types of ram, it may not run in dual channel either. For example, I was running 2 sticks of valueram, same speed, same brand, but because the model was different it would not run in dual.

Re: ram upgrade

sorry maybe i wasnt to clear, ok so can i add the 2x1gb corsair (same ram, that is running as dual).and will it affect the dual thats already running, cos of the 32bit max ram of 3.3gb

example:
4x1gb corsair as dual (showing at 3,3gb)

or is it best

2gb as dual +1gb extra (3gb total,2 gb as dual)
