Computer powers up 3 times before actually running
I have been having recent issues with a computer I built over a year ago. Basically what it does it when I restart it powers up three times before it runs. What I mean is the fans, hard drive, lights, ect...pulse on, then off, then on, then off, then finally they pulse on and STAY on and the machine boots like normal. I can't figure out why it would just start doing this. Please help it's getting really annoying!
System Specifications: ASUS GeForce 7600 GT AMD 64 x2 Dual Core 4600+ 2.4 GHz 2 x 1 Gig Mushkin RAM WD 250 GB HDD XP sp2 |

Re: Computer powers up 3 times before actually running
Talk to us about your power supply. What brand, how many watts, and look on the side and see how many amps on the +12 rail.

Re: Computer powers up 3 times before actually running
Alright my PSU is an XCLIO Goodpower 500W ATX that has the following listed for currents on the rails:
+5v (28A) +12v1 (16A) +12v2 (17A) +3.3v (30A) -12v (0.3A) and the total power supplied to the 5v/3.3v rails is 140W. That's probably more than you needed to know but just for completeness... |

Re: Computer powers up 3 times before actually running
This could be the result of your power supply not being able to keep up with the demands of your system.

Re: Computer powers up 3 times before actually running
So after taking apart and rebuilding my computer I noticed that it is only doing the odd start up sequence when I restart, not when I initially power up the machine. Does this mean anything?
