Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

I m not an expert but there are incompatibilitys with ram in generall. It has to do smthng with the voltage.First of all make sure you put it on the right slot(dimm1).Then enter bios setup and check any incompatibility adjustments you have to make on the memory page. You can try loading bios auto config.Third make sure that by putting the ram in place you did not couse any slight movement of the motherboard so that it doesnot work. What kind of error do u get?

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

actually when first time i installed the memory my computer worked fine for one hour when i start and online game it shut itself down. and when i tried to restart it. a black window appeared and s tone sound played repeadly. and when i tried to reinstall the windows i got a blue page where it said something with physical memory, and than asked me to restart. and i got again a same screen.

I think as u said maybe it belongs to voltage because in every situation when i tried only with 512mb it works fine but whenever i extend it to 1gb of 1.5gb i get the prblems.

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

Yeah i bought a 1gb ram than i changed it with my friends 2- 512mb ram.
So when i put only one of them it works. as i got from it, it works only 512mb or less on it, whenever i extend it more than 512 it stops.

What motherboard and what RAM do you have?

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

Make sure the CPU heatsink hasn't been displaced.
Reseat the video card (if you have one).
Check the power connections inside the case.
Start the computer with the original RAM only.

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

Any error messages before it restarts?
If not - turn automatic restart off:
Control panel > System > Click the "Advanced" tab > click Startup and recovery - Settings > Untick "Automatically restart" > Click OK.

Check the voltages and temperatures with SensorsView (link in my signature).

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

Let's make sure the computer is OK before buying a video card.

What's the CPU temperature and the +12V?

SensorsView can notify you if the computer gets too hot.
Turning automatic restart off makes you able to read any error messages (BSODs).
Overheating protection (if any) is usually managed by the motherboard - not Windows.

Re: DDr Ram 184pin 400mhz

Look in BIOS under "PC Health Status" for temps and voltages.
Enable the "CPU warning temperature".
