I have two corsair memory sticks (1gb ddr 2 667). When used seperately they work fine. However when I use them together my system crashes.
I did not buy them together but separately. My motherboard supports dual channel, but im a bit worried that because they may not be Exactly the same then this is causing my system to crash. The specs on them are identical but they were not bought together. Could this be the problem? Thanks. |

Re: Identical ram?
what do you mean by a system crash? error messages? What motherboard? did you check wiht the computer manufacturer or mb manufacturer to see if there might be some sort of bios update pertaining to this?
You may want to run the microsoft crash test on both sticks, together and singles to see if it finds anything. |

Re: Identical ram?
I get an Irql error often when both sticks are used. My motherboard is Asrock dual channel. I have tried and tested both sticks on their own and they work perfectly. Only when the are used simultaneously do I get he Bsod frequently. Is it true they must be from the same pack for dual channel to work?

Re: Identical ram?
sometimes you can luck out... but generally speaking, you need a dual channel kit, sold for dual channel operation, to have it function in that capacity.
