Buying new RAM. Compatability questions.
I am thinking of buying this RAM.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211174 I already have this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211064 And this MoBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130081 Are these chips compatable? Whats the deal with voltages? (Do I need to change anything?) Thanks |

Re: Buying new RAM. Compatability questions.
Here's what you do:
Take the old memory out and put it to one side Put one of the new sticks in the slot closest to the heatsink Put the other new stick in the third slot from the heatsink Fill the remaining slots with your old memory Hope this helps and if you have any questions in why you have to do it this way don't hesitate to ask me, Mikey. |

Re: Buying new RAM. Compatability questions.
No you shouldn't unless you are overclocking them.
Yes they are compatible, if you are still in doubt get them off www.crucial.com. Another pointer: When going for RAM, latency is better than speed for gaming; so instead of going for PC2-6400 (speed) CL4/5 (latency), go for PC2-5300 CL3. Mikey. |
