PSU Problems

Today I tried to install a new PSU (EZ COOL 600W link here http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133115) and a HIS X1950 PRO GPU but ran into a few problems. After installing everything, I went to turn it on and nothing happened, it wouldn't even turn on. So after a bit of fiddling around I decided to put my old PSU back in and see if it was just the PSU that wasn't working. And sure enough, it was. Long story short is, I did a check of the PSU and noticed that it says "Prescott ready" so what I want to know is is the PSU only for intel mobo's because I have AMD :/ If there's anything I can do to get it to work with an AMD cpu/mobo then please let me know. Now I'd like to point out that I do know a fair bit about computers, but I don't know a thing about PSU's because I only replace them like every 3 years.

Thanks for any help.

does your board require an extra molex power leed from the supply?
i believe you bought an inferior supply, if you purchase a quality unit, you probably would not need to replace the supply every few years.

Yeah it does, it was plugged in. And I don't really care about how good the PSU is, I just want it working :P

Re: PSU Problems

if the psu is not up to it it will not work,it sounds faulty return it,be it amd or intel makes no difference
do the fans run and does it post with it in,or do the fans flicker and die

Re: PSU Problems

The fans don't even turn on. The only thing that seems to be on is the green power light on my mobo.

Re: PSU Problems

check the back of the supply and see if it has a slider switch for the voltage and that it is set to the right voltage
115v for the usa
230v for europe
if that's correct touch the 2 pins that front case on button connects to on the m/b with a small screwdriver for a fraction of a second to check the button is not the problem
check the power plug to the m/b is seated ok
