Should I remove unused hardware? cd-rom, modem?
A while back, I had a problem with my cpu crashing and it was due to my power supply being not so good (it's an eMachine). It only crashed a couple times and has been fine since then. But I was wondering. I have an old cd-rom and modem I don't use but they are still hooked up, if I unplug and remove them, will this relieve my power supply of some stress?

Re: Should I remove unused hardware? cd-rom, modem?
sure will .. not much but it'll give you a small breather .. but don't wait too long before upgrading that power supply .. it's gonna be causing you long term problems and it's probably damaging your motherboard as we speak.
Keep your eyes on your motherboard capacitors .. look for bulging caps .. even a slight 0.5mm bulge means that your board is dying. If anything even looks like it has started to bulge .. replace your power supply and replace the bulging components
