How do I interpret power supply tester results?
I have a lot of old PSUs I collected from a recycling center and have been testing them with a Coolmax PSU tester. The problem is that neither the package nor the website is particularly helpful in interpreting the results I am getting. Even my A+ book was vague.
Most of the units are coming up with a flashing "LL" on the +12V2, which I am assuming means it simply isn't present. I am more concerned about the reading I am getting on two or three of them in the PG section (I'm not even sure what "PG" is). One was flashing and beeping 970ms, and another 990ms. Everything else seemed to be within normal limits. Any idea what this means? Thanks! |

Re: How do I interpret power supply tester results?
Thanks for the tip...sadly I do not have a multimeter...I am really looking to just verify good or bad more than check detailed performance. A lot of the PSUs I got are from older Dells or Compaqs and might be proprietary, meaning it might not follow the pin chart anyway...
I read that the PG means Power Good...but I'm still not clear on what the numbers I'm getting might signify. |
