Will I See Lower Temps With My New PSU?

My current hardware is:

OS - Windows XP Pro
CPU - Intel Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz
RAM - 2gb DDR 2
Video Card - 640mb Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS

At present I'm running this PSU - http://www.trust.com/products/default.aspx?item=15317

By I've ordered this PSU to come in a couple of days - http://www.thermaltake.com/product/P...0116/w0116.asp

Here are my current idle temps (Inet browsing, listening to music etc) according to Everest:

I was just wondering whether my temps will go down once I install the new PSU.

Thanks.

Re: Will I See Lower Temps With My New PSU?

The Fan on the PSU is to exhaust the heat from inside the psu only. You wont notice a tempreture drop . However when things are underpowered (Which your 8800 probably is) Tempretures can fluctuate quite abit. With more juice the cards temps may drop a bit.

Open your case and use some compressed air to get rid of all the dust - Your CPU is abit on the hot side along with the GPU.

The best way to cool your pc is to have a fan at the front Intaking cold air, and a fan at the back Exhausting warm air.

My current fans are:

Vid Card Fan
PSU Fan
Case Fan at the back
CPU Fan

That's it. I was told that Pentium D's run pretty hot anyway

Either way, it's been running for over a year at those temps with no problems so I think it's fine. I don't think I have a spot for a front fan on my case though.

That's good to hear. It's just having signed up to Extremeoverclocling.com forums they are all playing up hell because of my temps. I guess they're just not used to seeing normal temps as opposed to super air/water cooled temps close to 0c haha.

Re: Will I See Lower Temps With My New PSU?

That power supply is the same as mine and it has a very large fan on it that will blow air into the case and not out the back as per normal PSU's.
It may help as it will help with airflow in the case

Re: Will I See Lower Temps With My New PSU?

I "think" you need some intake air flow

personally I would cut a hole in the side cover if you dont have a mounting location in the front of your case to bring in cool fresh air

many times; I have cut a 3.5 inch hole and mount a 120mm high quality case fan to the side cover of the PC case >>>> this will bring in plenty of cool air

make sure you get a 120mm case fan with more than 2,500 rpms

the smart fan-2 is my FAV

here is my pet fan

http://www.dvhardware.net/modules.ph...wcontent&id=16

will the new PSU lower your temps ???????? if your CPU or Video card WAS struggling before >>>>> then yes your temps will fall

if you were just getting by; prior to new PSU then no, temps will stay the same

case fans are very cheap
