[SOLVED] Extra wire on psu connector

First let me say hi and thank you for helping us who don't know.I have a simple question i think.I had a bad psu and bought a new one.While checking to see which way to run my connectors i noticed the motherboard connector had a extra wire.I checked pin connections on the internet and found it is for -5v.My sys. uses the 20 pin and i would like: to know if i should remove this wire or if it will be ok

remove that wire >>>>>> only very old motherboards use it

Thanks for the info.Thats all i needed to know.I'm not sure how to remove this thread because i've never used a forum.I will attempt it later. Thanks again!!!

linderman is right. To be specific, the only things that depend on -5V are legacy ISA cards from the Pentium III systems and older. Everything else either does not use it or has switched over to the +3.3V. Your new power supply will only not work if it is running in a system with ISA/EISA cards in which case the cards (and any other onboard devices that use the ISA bus) will probably not function.
