Possible Power Supply Problem
My computer was running fine until a couple of weeks ago, when it completely wouldn't work. At the moment I am on an older computer until I'm able to fix the other one.
In the leadup before the breakdown it was doing strange things. For example, when I turned it on in the morning, it would turn straight off. Second time, it would run for around 10 seconds then turn off. Third time it would load up XP then turn off, and lastly it would run normally. This process happened at least 4 times before the breakdown. Now whenever I turn my computer on, it runs though nothing appears on the screen, no error messages/beeps. I investigated this, and I believe I have brought it down to the power supply. When I removed it and turned it sideways, I could hear many parts moving inside. I tried installing a previous power supply with lower wattage, although it did the same thing. This power supply could have been faulty. I also tried a 220W supply, and it just wouldn't turn on at all. I am going to be purchasing a new power supply, although before I do, I would like to know if there would be any other cause for this other then the power supply. This will save me a lot of time, thanks. :D |

Can you enter safe mode? Its very possible the supply went bad, get a decent one if you replace it.

Re: Possible Power Supply Problem
Oh ok, thanks. That's all I needed to know. It's just I get my parts at a computer markets that's hold once a month near me. So I wanted to zero out the problem with any other components so I didn't get home, put in the supply and realise it still didn't work. :D
