Weird ram???

I just attempted to build a system that is running 64bit windows vista (AMD dual core 3.0Ghz processor, Gigabyte 4 ram slot motherboard that supports supposedly up to 16 gb ram) and I purchased 2 g.skill pairs of ddr2 800 (mb compatable) ram so that I have 4 sticks, 1 GB each.

The problem is, I can run any three of the four, but when all four are in the slots, the computer won't even post!

Help please...

Re: Weird ram???

Hi,

If you post all the specs like PSU(Power Supply Unit), CPU(Central Processing Unit), MoBo(Motherboard), GPU(Graphics processing unit), HDD(Hard Disk Drive) info it would help us to find out what the problem could be.

Thanks,

Jay.

Re: Weird ram???

Hi,

From what i know about from what your motherboard and RAM specs are, I know that the RAM sticks are DDR and the motherboard only supports DDR2.

I dont think they are backwards compatible.

Re: Weird ram???

Have you tried running 1 stick of RAM at a time to make sure one of them is not faulty?
