next upgrade?

Hey i was just wondering what i should upgrade next for gameing (don't have money right now but will mostlikly make my next purchase because of this post ) Also if it the psu (i know you dont like ultras) please recommend a good one that could pull an overclocked 8800gts The ram clock is on a 1.1 ratio with the cpu (oh and to save you looking through hps site (another thing people dont like) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN thats the motherboard, sadly the os is linked with the board because its the one that came with the comp (i do have the upgrade disc for xp to vista dont know if that counts lol again how bad can a chipset bottleneck anyway? any thanks for any help you guys give

Re: next upgrade?

who said i didnt like ultra's lol, however if your going to get an 8800gts,and oc it 500w may not be enough.i can tell ya my ultra 600 is.got my cpu oc'd to 2.7,and my video card oc'd to 591core,and 1804 memory.after hours of gaming the power supply is cool to the touch being a big sign its not straining to run.im gonna tell you right now about ultra.they got a bad rep over 1 power supply.that had a high failure rate of about 8%.

Re: next upgrade?

be mean back i guess.seriously though some of the ultra's are good power supply's.the newer x3 series is nice, and some of the xfinity's are good as well.

Re: next upgrade?

oh i did have a look at that mobo, and you have a limited upgrade path to be honest.a pentium d 9xx series is the best cpu it will support.so faster cpu up to the top of the line pent d,a better video card, and a better power supply will be as far as it can go.

Re: next upgrade?

I was thinking about getting a psu and video card psu first using my vid card and then after having that replacing the mobo with on that takes all my stuff and has room for better stuff (along with new windows code?)

Re: next upgrade?

and the old X-finity is not the old PSU I dont like in the Ultra line up >>>>

they released a 650 that was labeled as medicore by the overclocking clubs

and their flagship unit the X1000 when it went head to head with the thermal take toughpower 1200 was a miserable showing even when wattage was adjusted

during the torture test of 8 hours at 45C box temps and 80% load (thats no torture test in my book BTW) thats an everyday gamers environment with the exception of the 8 hour part !!

but anyway during the torture test the thermaltake tough power exaust only rose 6C from the added heat of the 45C "hot box"

the Ultra X1000 was pumping out temps of 70C if you dont think that unit was puking >>>>>>>

Re: next upgrade?

yes ultra does make some good units I saw a 700 or 750 watt unit made for Ultra based on a Seven Team OEM that was awesome but its prive tag put in in the same group as Seasonic >>>>> now thats a no brainer choice there ????????????

Ultra ran a promo not long ago that if you bought one the rebate equalled the purchase price

you think they had any problems to make a manufacturer let units go for FREE ????????????? to rebuild their image ?

I still dont see how it powers a 8800 but phpharoah is doing it with overclocking his cpu and video card (note they stay at room temp almost nothing can push them over that.)
