Question Ram Running at half the Speed???

Hi

I recently bought 2 sticks of 1gb DDR2 533MHz PC2-4200 240pin ram.

Now I am putting it into a P5N-E SLI Motherboard replacing the ram I had in there originally.

However when i boot up it says I only have 1gb. I took one out and it told me I have 512mb so all I can see is that its only running at half the speed its supposed to be. I have placed the ram in the same coloured ram slots (like i said replacing what was already in there)

Any idea's why this would be? I have noticed that the old Ram had chips only on one side, wherese the new stick have them on both side but not sure if this matters?

Not sure what else anyone needs to know...but ask me and I will tell you cause this is really annoying me

Intel Core2 Duo 2.13ghtz

Windows Vista

Take it out of dual channel operation [ I assume you bought a matched set of sticks made for dual channel operation ] .. Put the sticks in slot 1 and 2 side by side and check it.

read these reviews, you might need to set the timings manually.
