Ram Troubles
Im realtively new at building computers so anyway
I have a Asus p5n-sli mother board I have just bought GeIL 4GB (4x1GB) PC8500C5 1066MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GB24GB8500C5QC) and put it in , however i dont think its performing to its top speed as this ram should be performing faster than it is here are some shots from CPU-Z http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5885/captureyp6.jpg http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3443/capture1mt2.jpg Is it the fact my motherboard does not support this type of RAM??? ![]() Any help will be greatly appreciated

Re: Ram Troubles
Its because your DRAM:FSB ratio won't go higher than 1:1. This basically means that a dual channel pair of RAM won't run faster than 533 MHz effective (266 MHz actual) for a 1066 MHz FSB CPU.
It is in AMD systems that you want to buy the fastest RAM possible. The HyperTransport/integrated memory controler architecture does not have the memory speed limits that the Intel hub architecture has. For 1066 MHz CPUs, you want a dual channel pair of DDR2 533 MHz RAM. For 1333 MHz CPUs, you want a dual channel pair of 667 MHz RAM. Faster RAM is only for overclockers. Even if your RAM was actually running faster, your system wouldn't be able to utilize the extra bandwidth. The Intel hub architecture has limits unfortunately.
