What kind of RAM would be best?

i'm building myself a computer and i was wondering which ram would be best for it i was thinking Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800 RAM

My system Specs are gonna be

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 ATX
PSU: Silencer 750 Quad
Hardrive:Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB 16MB Serial ATA-300
Video Card: GeForce 8800 GTX
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE

Re: What kind of RAM would be best?

That RAM would be good. You really won't benefit from RAM faster than 533 MHz in a dual channel pair in a system like that though because of the limits of the FSB bandwidth. I would get a dual channel pair of 667 MHz RAM though so you will be ready to get a 1333 MHz FSB processor. Faster RAM won't be bad, it will just be more money that will only be of benefit if you want to overclock.

It sounds like the RAM is within your budget, so go for it.

Re: What kind of RAM would be best?

Simple or Complex version?

Simply, you need two identical sticks of RAM that run at half the processor bus speed to make the bandwidth of the processor and memory buses synchronous.

If you want to overclock, get the fastest memory your motherboard supports to avoid stability issues.
