which memory

my computer only takes low density single chanel memory,
i know 1gb sticks come in both high & low density.
does 512md sticks come in both or just low density does anyone know?

There are 512 MB High Density sticks. Just make sure you get brand name sticks and not no-name sticks of eBay.

High density only works in about 20% of systems and is slower.

Is the cost saving worth the slower speed?
ie 2GB for the price of 1GB low density?

If it does work, it'll still reap lower end performance - low bandwidth, slower latencies. The cost is unworth the density IMO, as many of the chips used are simply seconds.

Well, not really because you really don't know whether your system will take high density until you test it, and even if it does work, you will likely not be able to transfer that RAM over to another system in the future, which is something you will likely want to do.

EDIT: Darn, too slow for Kalim.
