BSOD think its RAM?
Hi. I got a new computer last month and it went perfectly. But I went on vacation a week agao and now I came back and am ecpirencing a problem. I went to play some HALO CE and for a little while i played it froze my game. So i just exited the game and thought it was a little problem no biggy. Bu thrn later that day I played again and it froze again and i just waited on the screen unitl it said network connection lost and so i then rejoined again and a couple seconds later froze and gave me a BSOD and restarted pc. I then downloaded memtest cause someone told me to check with that and then when i started testing and around 5.3% It gave me a BSOD and restarted my pc. Any ideas, could it be the ram? I got 2 GS of ram. How can I fix this. :( thanks. Sorry if this is in wrong section.

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
![]() Sounds like a Vista driver problem or your computer is too weak to handle such a ram hungry game, but what do I know? To get the hardcore computer helpers to help you, you need to add all the details about your system that you can. Since it's a brand new computer, look at any paper work that came with it and add all the hardware details that you can. No one can help you until you do. |

Hi vtech

![]() vtech: Which Memtest did you run that gave you a BSOD? Memtest will not give you a BSOD, since it doesn't run inside windows, Windows gives you a BSOD when it encounters errors after its loaded up. ![]() Please list your system specs following this: stickies For RAM, run these diagnostics: Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and Memtest86+. (2 hours each is OK) Run each with one stick of RAM in a each slot, to test the RAM and the slots. let us know the results. |

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
So is there anything I can do from the pics above? Do I still have to try the two programs Kalim said? Also if I do how do I make my disc bootable when i burned the isos of the two?

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
Hi vtech.
Sorry I didn't know you were on Vista, but the in-Windows Memtest is also not accurate enough, so we'll see. The whole procedure is as follows: Place a CDR/RW in the drive, start up Nero or something like ImgBurn and burn the ISO image file onto a CD. Restart the computer, hit F8 at POST, try to access "boot from" menu at startup and change the primary boot drive to CD-ROM (1st boot drive). It should then run Memtest that you have on your CD, inside the drive. Then see how it goes. ![]() |

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
I burned the iso on an DVD-R. Wil it still work? Also what do I do when I'm in memetest or it will start testing by slef? Also do I have to change the boot order back to how it was after I'm done?

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
Wow, 110,000 errors... that's a lot!
Is your RAM overclocked? Set it to default if it is. Take out one stick of RAM, and test again. Then move the RAM stick into a different slot and test. Do this for both of the RAM sticks in both slots. ![]() Yes, as you know now, Memtest runs automatically. Exit will make your system reboot and you can change the boot order back the way you first set it to CD-ROM first )press F8 and set to first HD). |

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
check the ram 1 stick at a time
the 7e error is caused by numerous different things http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms795746.aspx always include your power supply details in your system specs

Re: BSOD think its RAM?
As dai mentioned, take one stick out and leave one in. Run the test.
Then swap the other stick in it's place leaving one in again. Run the test. If you get errors, then try inserting one stick of RAM in the second slot which is usually occupied. Run the test. Then swap the other stick of RAM in the second slot. Run the test. If you get errors in both slots for both RAM, then it'll be RAM corruption. |
