RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
I recently bought 2 512 sticks of crucial 200 mhz ram. After installing them I started to have problems with my monitor losing it's signal, and sometimes it will get stuck on a startup screen. I also have 2 sticks of 256 mb RAM in the other 2 slots, could this be the problem? Do I need another pair of 512 sticks to make it run good? I have an eMachines T6212 AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 1.99 GHz.

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
I tried putting them into the 1 and 3, then 2 and 4. When I did that my PC wouldn't even start up at all, just a signal loss screen and no light from the CPU thinking light. But when I put in only my original 256 sticks the problem went away, started perfectly. Also, when I start up now, "Verifying DMI Pool Data" message says "Success!" at the end of the "........". With my 2 512 sticks in there is no "Success!" at the end of "Verifying DMI Pool Data". I always thought my new RAM would make my PC run faster.

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
I tried that and now its running nicely. Should I just settle with the 2 512's and ditch the old 256's? And will two more 512's make it run any faster at all?

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Thats so hard to answer with a emachine, first it could just be that the original ram and the new crucial just don't play nice together.
second emachines are notorious for weak or borderline power supplies so its possible the added ram pushed it over the edge. I would just use the 2 512mb of ram that should give you decent performance with that gig |

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Darn, now my 2 512 sticks aren't working anymore, but whenever I put my 256's back in it starts just fine, every time. Could this be a problem with my PSU?![]() |

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Could you give us a link to the crucial ram?
This is a dual channel board so it requirers a dual channel kit. Did you install the new ram in the same slots as the old? I looked on the emachines website but its pretty much useless, just general topics about ram even in your manual, but in most motherboards the ram to run dual channel should be installed in slots 1&3, |

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
This is the exact RAM that I bought.
http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartsp...3958B1A5CA7304 The free scan said it was compatible. If the link doesn't work, the part number of the RAM was CT444802 at the Crucial website. Last edited by Kcsilvera : 07-04-2007 at 07:46 PM. |

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Theres your problem you order 2 of these and not a matched pair, also called a dual channel kit.
Notice in red where it say this "Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules." Return it here's what you need http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=FAEF5AB0A5CA7304 |

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Your welcome, this is a common problem because the ram configurator gives you all the ram that will work with the computer, although the ram will work it in a single stick config it just won't work in dual channel (2 sticks)

Re: RAM causing monitor signal loss, why?
Also make note, that RAM is running at 2.6V and your older 256MB RAM is probably running at 2.5V (standard)- that will cause problems, many times no bootups or false errors.
