recognize memory

Hello

I am a real pc dummy but i am going to try and build a computer . Well with help of a few fine fellows (YLstang , Mudi , baconbuttie , GuitarMan and travelingman) i have took apart and put back a old p111 computer that i am going to trashcan as soon as new parts arrive.
Before i took it apart my computer would recognize all three sticks of memory that i have in it , but after i put it back together it will not recognize but two sticks. i got two 256MB (PC133) and one 128MB (PC133). In my bios its got: Memory Bank 0=256MB (PC133) , Memory Bank1 = 256MB (PC133) Memory Bank 2= Not Initialized.
Shoot i have tried three diff. sticks with no joy. Does anyone have any idea what i might have done wrong putting this thing together?
Thanks Much
harley

Re: recognize memory

Clear the cmos by removing the battery with the computer unpluged for 30 minutes. Then go in bios and load the defaults

Thanks for your reply , i sure do appreciate it. I done what you said , and i think i messed up the battery holder (clip) , the clip fit over the top of the bat. when i took it out but when i put it back in i could not push the bat. in far enough to get the clip to go over top of bat. Well anyway after i done it it still would not recognize that 128MB memory so this old man looked up the manual for this old computer and come to find out that the max memory for this MB is 512MB , i was trying to use 640MB.
Thanks again for your help , and do you think it will be alright if i post a lot of questions on this forum?
