Having a REALLY hard time to boot computer [RESOLVED]

Hi, everything was fine a couple of days ago when one morning I tried to start my pc. It boots for a couple of sec, some time half a second then shuts down.
When Im lucky I can have it boot completly but that is when I try to boot it up like 100 time and Im not gonna do that everytime I want to boot it on.

It would be great if you guys could tell me what part is defective so I could change it.

heres what in the box.
P4 3.2 Ghz
1go ram
Ati radeon x700
Motherboard: p5GD2-X
running windows xp

Thank you

Re: Having a REALLY hard time to boot computer

Might be a error in the HardDrive. Did you download something that might have hijacked the computer? Its happend to me one time, a lot of pop ups came up, and i restarted the computer, and it went slow. Luckly i got all my files out of there.

Re: Having a REALLY hard time to boot computer

Boot your pc with the minimal amount of Hardware.
CD/DVD
HDD
Keyboard
Mouse
Monitor

And see if it boots. A piece of hardware maybe faulty

Re: Having a REALLY hard time to boot computer

I agree with 1 g0t 0wn3d - it's most likely a faulty PSU. Do you have another power supply (maybe you could borrow one) to try in the computer.

Re: Having a REALLY hard time to boot computer

Hey guys thanks for the help, turns out it was the power supply that was faulty. I've got a new one now, everything works perfect.
