Ram upgrade
Hello im looking to upgrade to 2gb of ram. Atm i have ata 1gb ddr2 pc5400 ram and i was just wondering if i could upgrade to 2gb by just adding a 1gb stick of ram, but the 1gb stick of ram im looking to put in with the ata stick is made by corsair. My problem is that im not sure that when your run dual channel ram, both sticks have to be the same make. The corsair ram is ddr2 pc5400 ram. regards chris

Re: Ram upgrade
Hi Chris,
![]() If you want to have dual channel, then you will have to have identical sticks. That board supports dual channel, so I would obtain the benefits. I would get two of the 1 GB Corsair sticks you are looking at. You can then keep your old stick for troubleshooting purposes (which is what I recommend), or sell it for some money. The key thing to remember is that for dual channel, the sticks have to be identical and in the correct memory slots. Consult your motherboard manual for dual channel configuration.
