Question Need PSU but new to the tech...

Hello All
This is my first thread so plz bear with me lol. I need to buy a new psu for my pc cause ive experienced problems where my hardcore games seem to shut off my computer and was told psu was more than likely the colprit. Anywho I need a PSU that is strong enough to hold my planned upgrades which would be this system:

Gigabyte M55SLI-S4
AMD X2 +6000 am2
2 gigs DDR2 800 dual channel G-skill gaming memory
8800gts
250gb harddrive sata2
audigy 4 pro sound card
Sony dual layer DVD+RW

Im looking at spending around 120 but dont really know what im looking for...
I found this PSU and compared it to my mobo manul and it should work i think but would like a second opinion or even a second suggestion if im off the mark.

Thanks so much

This would be the minimum wattage.

Calculator
Choose "go lite"
Add 30% to the total.

Re: Need PSU but new to the tech...

Im gonna stick with the 600w... The IT guy at my work that does all our computer work and networking who is also a avid gamer told me that 600w would be fine since im not planning on 2 video cards or more than 1 harddrive. But he did state that if i planned on going SLI or with a RAID format then id want to bump it up a lil.

Re: Need PSU but new to the tech...

for the sake of a $5 price difference i would go with the 700w and allow for future upgrades now instead of having to fork out all over again

Re: Need PSU but new to the tech...

The OCZ 700 watt really is a 600 watt PSU (which is a common "game" in the PSU world)

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/397/5

so; now I wondering is the 600 watt, really a 600 watt ?????????????

Personally I would buy the OCZ 700 watt (look on tigerdirect.com) also

also dont overlook the Antec Trio Power 650 (newegg.com) the 650 antec is notably better than the OCZ 700

but for $115.00 ish >>>>> the OCZ is hard to beat

Re: Need PSU but new to the tech...

its 600w on the 12v rail... theres these other rails, such as the 5v and 3.3v, and yes, components still use them...

Re: Need PSU but new to the tech...

You missed the whole point Floyd (not that this is a banner moment in history)

The OCZ 700 watt while being a very capable unit does not "really" possess all the power the rating label leads you to believe.

Nice touch though; how you skimmed right over the rated temp ???? which is ???? (when they dont state it, its usually 25C) , I liked that albeit typical though

so in reality, this unit is a great unit for the money but it gets thumped by both the Corsair 620 and the Antec 650 (both of which cost more but are labeled for less wattage ????)

my point being, the OCZ 600 could be expected to be no more than a well built 500 watt

have a great evening
