Idea Re: I want to add ram to my PC What ram should buy

Well at first look your board supports up to 4gig of the following :- DDR 400 / 333 / 266.
Now ram is something you need to take care with, it can be very fussy, and for you to achieve the most from this I suggest you buy a matched pair of sticks (2x1gig) so it can make use of the hyper threading and be faster, I would sell your current stick and just use the new matched pair for best results\performance.
Your best bet would to be to use a system configurater from the ram maker your looking at, all the big guns have them, Crucial, OCZ and Corsair (scroll down to view) to name some of the big guns, click the name you want to go with here to be taken to the results page for your board, at least as best I could find with your info above, should be right just double check to be safe as there are a few variations on this board, if your in doubt get Everest in my Sig and run that to find out exactly, if you buy the wrong memory don't rely on being able to return it, many will only take it back if it's faulty due to the delicateness of it, does this help ?

That is all correct. You need to have matched pairs to gain the doubled bandwidth of dual channel (I think you meant that instead of hyperthreading ). It may be wise to keep your current sticks for troubleshooting purposes.

Re: I want to add ram to my pc What ram should buy

Its clear now what i should buy.Another question i want to ask is that now i have 2 sticks of 256 but my system doesn t see them as duel channel? Why s that?I first bought my machine with a stick of 256 and after that i bought another one.Do i need to configure bios for dual channel?

I may be mixing my terms here but yes thats what I meant, when this tech first came out they called it hyperthreading, so when it comes to replying it's the first name I think of lol, but whether there is a difference between hyperthreading and dual channel I am unsure, but I thought they are the same thing.

Anyway the links I gave above list all the ram compatible with your board, but as I said there are several versions of your board from what I saw so please make sure that your certain about the model\rev number, the usual option people go with these days is 2x1gig giving them 2gig of ram, but go with what you can afford.
As to your current 2 sticks it could be a prime example of why these sticks are always suggested to be got in matched pairs, because as such they are guaranteed to work, 2 single sticks of ram even bought at the same time does not always work in dual channel, it can be very fussy with such things, there may be settings in your bios that need this enabled, you would have to go through and see what options there are to be sure.
