Different RAM brand

Hi
Right now I have a PNY Optima 1G DDR2 SDRAM Memory 1GB-667MHz DDR2-667/PC2-5300 installed on my computer. I want to upgrade another GB so I can install Vista.

I have two slots in my motherboard.

My question is "can I buy another 1 GB memory card that is a different brand?"

I am thinking for buying a cheaper one and I found one that is Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300).

Can they work together?

Most can. However, if your board is dual channel memory, there may be problems. What board do you have?

I have a Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. It supports DDR2 with Dual-channel architecture..

If they are different brands, different models, different voltages, different timings and latencies, they can present issues; i.e. incompatibility, worse performance than normal, bad overclocking, no dual channel (etc).

Check your motherboard mfg site for the QVL to see what's known compatible.
