RAM question

hi there up til recently my computer was running rather slow with its 256MB of ram so a friend lent me a 512MB one to put in. so i currently have them both running so i essentially have 768MB although i havent noticed much of a speed increase. my question is just this would it be faster to just run the 512 by itself? both are SDRAM and run at the same speed. thanks

Re: RAM question

I doubt taking out the 256 stick will improve your system, as long as we are talking the 2 are in fact of equal speed and timings.
What cpu and board are you using? Have you tried to clean up the op system and defrag?
