Re: Question about bad ram...

Don't know about that site, but you can double check the test results by running memtest86+ : download and burn the bootable iso then boot on the CD (you'll need to change the boot order in the bios to CD-rom first). Let it run 3 full passes. Report here if it shows errors.

I believe it's better to test your ram when the OS is not yet loaded to prevent other programs interfering. Memtest86+ just does that.

Use the version linked by jpb, it's much newer, updated and thorough and will test more rigorously area's that are missed by the one you linked.

Plus run this: Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

Both can catch what another misses. Test each stick on it's own, in the slot it's meant to be seated in and if you get errors, test a known good stick in both slots.

Re: Question about bad ram...

Wait... in the slot its meant to be in? Is there something I missed? Does each slot have a different Requirement?

Re: Question about bad ram...

Nope, but in some case it could be one of the motheboard ram slots that's failing on a good ram stick. Then you could work your way around the problem simply by using another slot. That's why it's recommended to run memtest86+ the way Kalim said to isolate the failing stick or slot.

The only requirements regarding the ram slots (other than making sure your ram is supported by your motherboard) are if you're using a dual-channel capable system. Then you'll need to refer to your motherboard manual to check which slots are paired (if there are more than 2).
