New RAM Not Recognised

ok, i have a weird problem.

i recently brought some new PC3200 DDR400 Ram (2 x 1gb modules)

i started out with a 512mb PC3200 DDR400 module.

when i installed the two new modules along side the original they were not detected @ startup byt the bios (it still said 512mb ram) i then tried them without the original and the computer failed to startup with a continuous fast beeping.

my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-81PE1000 Pro2-w.

the odd thing is, i put both the new modules in and the original and booted into windows. i then ran the crucial.com memoery advider software thinger (my results: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/viewscanbyid.aspx?id=6F76A99531D926C3&tabid=&pagename= )
it showd the correct details of my cards :/ so i tried using everest to see what else i could get, and it also showed my 3 cards installed, but still said that only 512mb ram was being used.

Any thoughts?

There is a possibility you need a bios update. Are your "my Computer' properties showing the correct cpu and ram?
What make ram did you install? Give the complete model number.

ive updated to the latest BIOS version, and it still isnt working. Windows is only reporting 512mb ram with all three stiks installed, same as bios.

the my computer properties is showing the correct CPU, but still only 512mb.

Re: New RAM Not Recognised

Now this company claims 266 is required. Consider returning the modules. Are they on the QVL list in your motherboard book?
