RAM Upgrade

Hi, I've been considering a RAM upgrade for my gaming rig for some time now. I currently have two sticks of DDR400 512MB RAM running in dual channel. My mobo supports another two RAM slots so I was hoping to get another two sticks of 512MB to give me 2GB total. I was considering buying this 1GB pack. The RAM I have at the moment is budget RAM, will my system still be able to run in dual channel if I put this new RAM in it?

Also, how important is CAS latency? If the first two sticks are slower than the second two, will all four use the slowest CL? Will they still run in dual channel if they are different?

I'm running a P4 3GHz 800FSB and a Gigabyte GA8IG100MK S478 motherboard.

Thanks in advance, ste0.

As long as these two sticks are in the dual channel slots that connect with each other, ex. blue with blue and black with black. The slots run dually with each other, not all 4 together. All 4 should be ddr400 pc3200.

Re: RAM Upgrade

Okay, thanks a lot for clearing that up. How much difference in performance will there be between CL 2 and CL 3?
