[resolved]2GB of RAM Slower than 1GB

Hi, I just got another stick of RAM. It is the same exact type as my old one. When I put the other Gig stick in, It became slow and when i began getting blue screens and random freezes. Anyone know whats wrong? I put the other stick in the 3 DIMM 3 slot.

My system specs are:
AMD Athlon 3500+
2GB Corsair RAM PC3200
MSI K8N mobo
EVGA 6800GS

Re: 2GB of RAM Slower than 1GB

when you receive bsod you need to post the error message in full
check the ram is seated properly, don't rely on the clips clicking over as it is not always seated, when they do

Do you know the exact model number of you motherboard? Some MSI K8N boards are picky about the ram config. Post your motherboard model # for more exact info. In the meantime insert the ram into dimm slots 1&2.

Post back with your M/B model and the results of switching the dimm slots.

Matt.

Here is the exact model number. I have to get home to try moving the RAM to slots 1&2 and I will reply when I do that.

MSI NEO4-F

Same thing for that board. You need to have DDR400(PC3200) ram either in dimm slots 1&2 or slots 3&4 as recommended by MSI.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: 2GB of RAM Slower than 1GB

Ok, Since I put the RAM into the 1&2 slots, there are no more crashes. It loads alot faster in games and just regular applications. Thanks for the help guys.
