I need help choosing which of these two PSU's to put into my new Antec 900... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
![]() Both of them have around same wattage so thats not really what im concerned with, im more concerened with dependability, easiness of routing cables and managing them, and cooling... Case (Antec 900) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021 PSU choice 1 (OCZ GameXstream 700w) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 PSU choice 2 (Antec True Power Trio 650w) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371001 Cost isnt a factor Thank you in advance, -bigmike504 |

Re: cant choose, must seek arbitraton...
Both are fine choices, you should not have any problem with either.
If its about the money go for the antec. But I do like the ocz. Installed one on a machine awhile back. Nice look a few more watts, pretty clean setup.

Re: cant choose, must seek arbitraton...
Hi,
The Antec would be the best of those two. YOu might also want to look at ZipZoomFly, because they have the Corsair 620 on sale right now for $20.00 off if you order today. That is one great power supply...top of the line quality. I think the total price is something like $124 after rebate. FREE shipping included. If money is no object, then consider the PC Power and Cooling supplies or the Seasonic 700. Those are both really great, but higher priced.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=373110 I'd take it over the Antec TP3-650 mainly because it has 50A on the 12V alone = 600W And yes, it can hack that within tolerance perfectly. Make sure you don't have a socket 462/754/939/478 motherboard. With many, it won't even POST due to -5V rail requirements it leaves out. |

Re: cant choose, must seek arbitraton...
Well, ok it looks like I am probably going to go with the Antec...
Only problem I saw with it besides some bad newegg reviews is the cables look really messy and look how clean the OCZ's cables look... The reason why this concerns me is because the Antec has no mobo tray and I still want to have a clean look within my case and no wire spaghetti... This will also be my first time installing a PSU, and the OCZ just looked easier overall. So, you sure I can handle the Antecs messy cables with no prior expirience with PSU's? |

Re: cant choose, must seek arbitraton...
Hi Mike,
Don't misunderstand, I think the OCZ is an excellent power supply and I would use one in a machine without hesitation. You really have an option here to purchase any of these and have them work IMHO. Those of us who have replied have given you some personal preferences, but OCZ is a very nice power supply (and the best looking of the bunch). Don't worry about putting a new power supply in, it is a piece of cake. Something like four screws and away you go. Just get some cable ties and put out of the way what you don't use. Post back with questions/concerns.

If cost is not a factor, this one is better than both of them:

Not all of the connections are usually used up, but you will have 6-pin PCIe (graphics card), 4-pin molex (optical drives and harddrives), the SATA connectors (SATA optical drives and harddrive), the 4-pin floppy connector (floppy drive), the 20 or 24-pin connector (for motherboard), 4-pin and/or 8-pin EPS connector (for CPU) and thats pretty much all you need to connect to the motherboard from the PSU. The more extra's you have, the more connections that are required. Don't forget to connect the flat wide cables (IDE) for the floppy drive, for your harddrive/optical drive if they're PATA or the SATA cables if they're SATA drives. The fans will also need to be connected onto the motherboard, obviously. The rest of the cabling can be zip-tied (usually included) to a bunch at one side away from frontal view, or many SeaSonic builds also include sticky side mounts to attach and route the cabling (used or unused) to the side of the case at different points. Nifty for leaving plenty of airflow room too. The Antec TP3 is a solid choice. Made by SeaSonic but a better price/performance ratio. ![]() |
