More Power?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and have very limited tech knowledge. I need to know
if my power supply is sufficient for my setup. PSU is 4 year old enermax 420
watt 12 volt (cannot see amp output on unit). I have an asus A8V mobo
socket 939 w/AMD FX57 overclocked to 3.00 Ghz, BFG7800GSOC video card (AGP), 2 gigs Corsair value select ddr 400 ram, 2 hard drives 40 GB each(IDE), Audigy soundbaster card,
DVD and CDRW drives, and 6 case fans. I use computer mostly for flight sims
and the smoothness and frame rates are erratic at times. Voltage readings are - +12V=11.065-11.187, +5V=4.972, +3.3V=2.96, Vcore=1.472. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: More Power?

your voltages are out of spec for sure >>> that 3.3 volt reading low like that will kill your hard drives and the dropping 12volt rail isnt doing your system any favors either!

look for the antec Trio SP-3 650 watt PSU for your rig @ newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

I wouldnt drag my feet if you can avoid it either!

Re: More Power?

Hi,

linderman and speedster123 have picked out an excellent PSU for that system. It is a good value and will handle everything fine. Your +12v is too low, so you should get the PSU sometime in the near future since you run the risk of it failing.

Thanks guys, I will not waste any time replacing the psu, and I will try the antec 650 watt Linderman recommends and let you know how it works out.

My best regards
Jim
