Ram Brands

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion/review on Crucial Rendition Memory. I would like to purchase 1GB DDR PC3200 for 79.99 CDN which is quite the deal. It is brand new.

Kingson RAM is about 15 CDN more. Is there really a big difference in quality or speed?

Hi Duke,

Crucial and Kingston both make good quality RAM. If they are both the same speed, look at the timings. If you don't know what they are, post them here, and we can tell which is faster.

Remember to make sure that your RAM is compatible with your motherboard.

Re: Ram Brands

Hello.

The Kingston ram is Actually 28 more than the crucial at the same speed.

The specs of the Crucial 512 DDR PC3200 ram are not available on the site. I wonder why.... It's simply a business tactic! You are paying for name brand in Kingston and I bet the speeds are almost the same.

By the way I currently have 512MB DDR PC3200 Kingston on my board.

The kingston Ram details are as follows: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php...70&cid=RAM.178

THANKS!

Id rather buy the Kingston ram off of ebay brand new because it is cheaper with warranty aswell.

Re: Ram Brands

Hi Duke,

TheMatt is spot on as usual. Both are excellent ram manufacturers.

Re: Ram Brands

Between the two, over the years, we have had better luck with Crucial. For what it's worth, I cast my vote with them.

Re: Ram Brands

They are both CAS3 and rated at 2.6V and I know that the Crucial one runs at 3-3-3-8 2T. I don't see a difference between them but for size. You have 512MB Kingston already in, so I would say go with Kingston to dodge any incompatibility issues which do occur.

You linked a Crucial MU of 512MB but linked a Kingston MU of 1GB

Did you mean the Kingston 512MB like here?

Re: Ram Brands

I would also mention that buying memory off of ebay may lead to the impression the warenty is intact....unless you are the original owner/purcheser from an authorized retailer they may not honor the lifetime warenty
