Had a power outage, pc wont turn on now

We had a power outage in my building, and my pc was on at the time, so it shut off when the power was cut, then the power came back on about an hour later and my pc also turned on by itself, however about 2-3 seconds after turning on it just keeps restarting, my led fans turn on, and then they turn off for half a second and turn back on again, its like the power is cut for half a sec then restored, is my PSU gone? any help is appreciated.

PSU: VANTEC VAN-400B 500Watt

Hi,

Try a new power supply on the system, so if this cures it. If so, obviousley the PSU will need to be replaced. You can also try disconnecting the PC from the mains for fifthteen minutes and try again. Do all the fans spin inside and/or outside?

Nick.

yes all fans inside and outside spin, and all hard drives and dvd writer too.

what do you mean by this exactly?

Basically take out the plug from the power supply. Is your computer now working or are you using another computer?

Resetting the CMOS is unlikely to help. I really can't be sure as to what the problem is now to be honest - i'm useless in every way possible with laptops. Hopefully someone with more knowledge with laptops will come along and help.

Good luck.

Hi,

Many times with a power outage, the Bios setup menu can become corrupted since things can't be saved normally, so I would recommend that you clear the CMOS and try this to set it back to defaults. It won't harm anythng and you can't lose anything. Be sure to unplug the unit and ground yourself before working in the case. You can either change the jumper or remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes.

Post back with questions/concerns.
