yeah: the same ultra's that newegg was giving rebates for that equalled the amount of the full purchase price

when you get time; do some googling for those two units there are more deaths there than you can shake a stick at.

Hi,

Want to spend some time doing follow up repair and lose a bundle in your computer shop? Then use those two supplies and it will bankrupt you and your company after a while. They simply are not the quality that the brand names are.

Since I use only the brand names, my repair calls have dropped to almost nothing, and just never have to mess with a failed power supply. It is called, pay now or pay later.

Looks like I am getting an Enermax Liberty 620W. It's final. A custom computer builder that is a friend of mine has had a Liberty 620W in his computer for almost a year, and he said they aren't bad at all considering they have 3 year warranty that covers the unit in case of defects or any problems.

and the trio has a 5 year warranty... cant go wrong with the liberty, but again, the trio is the better psu, even the 550w has more amps on the 12v rail, and thats really the important thing.

Some higher end i.e. X-FINITY 600W (with APFC) are low-middle OK units. The Ultra 800W plus are top spec PSU's made as server grade - which is primarily why. The lower models are simply disastrous and no where near the same builds, not by reviews, as Jon and his friends will mention clearly, but that they have failed and destroyed systems too many times whilst running fully under real working environments. That is what counts - experience, as they will themselves mention endlessly. Its how they've performed for masses of users, the CSR and the RMA procedures. The lower specs are worth trash and Jon affirms this. Some of their mid units have reviewed decently under load (low ripple and stable voltages) but with efficiency of 60-65%. That's below use now with other PSU's throwing out as much as 95%.

Its a hit and miss and regardless of repeated best advice, you have decided to ignore it. Like we said, they are well known for failing nowadays. DFI is one of the best boards out there esp. with Conroes.. want to see their list of highly recommended PSU's and their recent BOLD RED warning?

I have personally tried 8 Liberty 620's in the past year. 5 were bought at the same time/place by friends with similar systems to the one I had. 2 of mine ran perfect. 5 out of 8 failed altogether; with 2 instantly DOAs and 3 dying over a 6month period! If you really want an Enermax then get the Noisetaker 600W Enermax EG701AX-VE(W)SFMA which has a 99% efficiency at 200watt load (average load).

Everyone who works as a technician/tester has dealt and knows of Liberty series issues being faced everywhere quite clearly since at least August. You could be lucky and get the better units of the batches by pure chance or fall prey to a bad decision and have a destroyed system and lose money later on. You're choice, as you seem to take the very good advice given here with much skepticism.
