Dell PSU

Does Dell use special power supplies which differ from normal ATX ones? I would like to upgrade my Dell psu with an ATX one a friend has. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! It is a Dell Dimesion 2400 which is a couple years old.

It looks like a standard ATX case, but I would be certain by opening the case up and looking at the PSU. Or - you can call Dell tech support and ask them if that is a standard ATX psu. I haven't worked on this particular model. Wait around and see if someone can tell you, sorry I'm not more help... but remember to post your computer's specs when posting hardware questions.

Hi,

There is a section on Proprietary power supplies in the power supply information under my signature. Might be a good idea to read that to know more about your power supply needs.

All Dell P4 towers use standard ATX power supplies. The desktop models do not.
