Mistake Memory Problems

Hi!!! people i have a little problem with my PC. I tried to make an upgrade from 512mb to 768mb, the thing is that when i put the 512dimm upgrade, try to turn on and dont go more from the first screen, the screen that tell you the memory that you have and the devices that have you PC. Things got fixed when i put back the old 256mb dimm!! Would you please give me an advice or explain if im doing something wrong or it's the new dimm that its not workin properly or its damage!!!

Thanxxs in advance!!!! Dereck Darell

My System

do you mean that it doesn't get past the post screen? you could try putting the memory modules in seperately. Put the 512mb memory module in the other slot (sometimes mobos have one slot that needs to be populated). Try one at a time per slot. Basically try all combinations. Do you get any beeb codes?

Please post your system specs and are the memory chips the same speed?
Have you tried the 512 chip alone?
